An audio engineer is concerned with the recording, manipulation, mixing and reproduction of sound. Many audio engineers creatively use technologies to produce sound for film, radio, television, music, electronic products and computer games.
I’ve worked as an audio engineer now since 1980. As a kid, I was fortunate to get a job in a professional recording studio as an “assistant engineer” which at the time basically meant that I got coffee for a lot of talented people and cleaned the toilets. A lot’s changed since then!
Today, I continue to perform tasks as an audio engineer both at my home studio in Toronto and at various other recording studios throughout the city. I also teach audio engineering and and do my best to impress upon young students the importance of proper engineering as opposed to what many kids today consider as the norm.
