to know
Peter Willis is a composer, songwriter and lyricist dedicated to telling heartfelt stories in the traditions old and new of musical theatre.
With a growing connection to very talented writers, musicians and theatre performers, he is excited to be writing and workshopping stories, scripts and compositions to bring new, original works to both stage and stereo.
Peter is currently writing Love and Barbed Wire with Nicolas Corbeil, a 25 minute musical about the trials and triumphs of a relationship forged through letter writing in WW1, and can be found attending performances and workshops alike in Calgary, Alberta.
In the more recent past, Peter has been the grateful recipient of "Song of the Year" for Family Portrait at Nova Scotia's largest folk music festival, Folk Harbour, where he was able meet and share time with personal inspirations Joel Plaskett and Lennie Gallant. Whilst in Nova Scotia, he recorded Old Confidence under the moniker of The Cromwell Trees.
From 2004 - 2008 Peter was the songwriter/vocalist/pianist/rhythm guitarist for the pop rock group The Russian Artist Factory, with a showcase at Canadian Music Week in Toronto and enjoying local radio play and live performances while releasing two EPs: The Swingset Basejump and The Russian Artist Factory.
Prior to this Peter was a musician in Copenhagen, Denmark, where he lived for many years and ran his own eponymous bar, Pete's Place.
Peter can usually be found enthusiastically drinking far too much coffee whilst conjuring up new ideas for musicals and soundtracks alike.
